East Texas GIS & GPS User Group (ETUG)
Rio Grande Valley Arc User Group
Is your GIS user group an official sub-chapter of SCAUG?
It's free!! Have your GIS user group become an official sub-chapter and be recognized on our website. There is no cost, but each group must adhere to the policies listed below.
What are the benefits?
Infrastructure
SCAUG has the means to support sub-chapters during paid events with credit cards and bank transactions.
Regional Recognition
SCAUG has a reputation throughout the South Central United States with GIS user groups joining SCAUG as a sub-chapter it promotes their group while also promoting them as a group that is part of something larger than just their region.
SCAUG Partnerships
SCAUG has established many partnerships throughout its eighteen year existence. One example is the partnership with ESRI. Sub-chapters have potential to benefit from this partnership with things such as visits from ESRI specialists, giveaways and a custom logo designed by an ESRI graphic artist.
How does your organization become a sub-chapter?
Any GIS User Group may become an official sub-chapter of the South Central Arc User Group. In order to do so, a representative from the user group must contact a member of the executive board and submit in writing a request for recognition. There is no cost to become a sub-chapter of SCAUG.
Once the executive board has been presented with the user group's written request, the executive board will then vote to allow recognition of the user group as a sub-chapter of SCAUG.
After official recognition, the user group will be permitted to publicize its' affiliation with SCAUG as well as use the SCAUG logo in conjunction with any and all promotion of the sub-chapter.
In the event that the sub-chapter hosts a meeting, conference, workshop, or seminar and collects monetary compensation from said events, all attendees at the event must become a member of SCAUG. This is easiest to accomplish by including this fee into the registration.
Meetings or conferences lasting more than one day must get executive board approval. Conferences must be six months before or after the SCAUG regional conference. Conferences that contain vendors are limited to twelve vendors without executive board approval.
Sub-chapters are also required to adopt the existing bylaws and charter of SCAUG as well as establish a chair to represent the sub-chapter.
